


Operational Buyer
Location: Plattsburgh, NY (potential travel to Canada, including overnight)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 annually
Start Date: May 2025
About the Roles:
Micro Bird USA LLC is seeking a hands-on Operational Buyer to be an integral part of the procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, components, and services required for the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and logistics, to maintain optimal inventory levels, reduce lead times, and ensure consistent product quality. This role involves planning, organizing, and managing logistics strategies to ensure efficient transportation, storage, and distribution of products. The Operational Buyer works closely with internal teams, and vendors, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials, while also ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
What you will do regularly:

Source and purchase materials, parts, and services needed for production based on inventory levels, production schedules, and demand forecasts.

Ensure timely delivery of materials to prevent production delays and disruptions.

Analyzes requirements, releases orders, and negotiates with suppliers according to needs determined using our MRP system

Negotiates with suppliers regarding reduced lead times, eliminated minimums and lot sizes, delivery frequency, and packing and transportation modes and conditions

Analyzes, supports and implements the proper operation of the computerized data system in relation to both supplier and company needs

Analyzes the impact of changes or additions of new parts. Determines effective points to minimize obsolescence and shortages.

Calculates latest possible end dates for the introduction of new parts and provides engineering and purchasing with these dates to ensure deadlines are met

Issues corrective action requests to suppliers in relation to logistics issues

Reviews management parameters for logistics sector to meet service, shortage and inventory turnover objectives

Takes action to dispose of obsolete or surplus material

Analyzes requirements and determines releasability parameters

Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, inventory levels, and cost analysis

Follows up on order delivery; monitors returns, repairs and reworked parts

Ensure that all procured materials and components meet the required quality standards.

Collaborate with the quality control team to address any quality issues or non-conformance.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high-quality materials and timely deliveries.

Resolve any supplier-related issues, such as quality concerns, late deliveries, or discrepancies.

Minimum Requirements:
All applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

College diploma in administration, logistics management, supply management, industrial management or production operations management preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MRP manufacturing system
