


Learning & Development Technician
Location: Plattsburgh, NY (potential travel to Canada, including overnight)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

About the Roles:
Micro Bird USA LLC is seeking a hands-on Learning & Development Technician to be responsible to develop, implement, and manage technical training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the Micro Bird manufacturing workforce. The role requires a strong technical background, experience in instructional design, and a passion for developing training programs that improve performance, safety, and overall productivity.
What you will do regularly:

Create, implement, and deliver technical training programs focused on improving the skills of production employees, such as machine operation, equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and quality control processes. Tailor training to meet specific team or individual needs.

Collaborate with department heads, supervisors, and HR to identify skills gaps, performance issues, and training needs within the manufacturing teams. Conduct regular assessments and gather feedback to ensure that training programs are relevant and effective.

Design and produce a variety of training materials, including manuals, presentations, video tutorials, job aids, and eLearning modules. Ensure that all materials are clear, accessible, and up to date with the latest industry standards and company procedures.

Lead hands-on, interactive development sessions in the manufacturing environment, including operating machinery, troubleshooting equipment, and understanding safety procedures. Offer one-on-one coaching as necessary to ensure competencies are met.

Develop and lead onboarding programs for new hires to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively. Additionally, create continuous education initiatives to ensure that employees maintain and improve their technical expertise.

Monitor and assess employee progress throughout training programs. Maintain records of training activities, certifications, and evaluations to ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Work closely with department teams to identify new training opportunities and address specific technical challenges within the manufacturing process. Keep up to date with new technologies, equipment, and processes that may require employee training.

Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by analyzing feedback, observing employee performance, and measuring improvements in productivity, quality, and safety. Implement changes or enhancements to programs based on these evaluations.
Provide ongoing mentorship to employees, especially in areas where hands-on training is crucial. Support supervisors and managers in coaching their teams to achieve greater technical proficiency.

Minimum Requirements:
5 years of experience in a technical role in a manufacturing environment, such as production, quality, or engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or Industrial Technology) or equivalent work experience preferred.

5 years of experience in a technical role in a manufacturing environment, such as production, quality, or engineering.

Experience in designing, developing, and delivering training programs is highly preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems.

Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical employees.

Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple training programs and schedules.

Proficient in delivering training materials, including presentations, manuals, and eLearning content.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and coach employees at all levels.
